Call for expression of interest for a 12-month Postgrad position, within the framework of the PRIN “Big data, internet-of-things and aRtificial intelligence to study the impact of personal Exposure to Air pollution on asthma Exacerbations” (BREATHE) project, in collaboration with the University of Padova and Palermo.

AI-AIDED ANALYSIS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF DYNAMIC PERSONAL EXPOSURE MODELS OF AIR POLLUTION FOR THE MONITORING OF ASTHMA EXACERBATIONS

The candidate will be involved in the development of model for the estimation of dynamic personal exposure to Air Pollution (AP), and will develop a technological infrastructure to measure the dynamic personal exposure to AP with high spatio-temporal resolution.
To estimate dynamic personal exposure, the candidate will exploit technologies such as i) dense network of fixed outdoor Air Quality (AQ) sensors and then combining AQ data with patients’ trajectories tracked by GPS/GNSS sensor ii) data coming from using wearable AQ sensors.
The candidate will develop Machine Learning models to estimate both outdoor and indoor exposure and integrate these models into AI-based predictive models to predict the risk of future exacerbations in asthma patients, in particular considering factors related to environment, disease monitoring and management, patient’s general health, behavior and lifestyle.
