Call for BID for the Organisation of Thematic Workshops

The GNB would like to remind its community that the new Call for BID for the organisation of thematic workshops aimed at early-career researchers is currently open, with a deadline of 2 September 2026.

The initiative is intended to foster interaction, scientific discussion, and cultural exchange within the Association by supporting the organisation of one-day workshops focused on topics of interest to the bioengineering community.

Who can submit a proposal

Workshops may be organised by junior members, such as research fellows, researchers, or GNB members under the age of 40.

Proposals should address one of the following broad topics:

a) E-health and Clinical Engineering;
b) Physiological and Neural System Modelling;
c) Biomechanics and Prosthetics;
d) Biomaterials, Cell & Tissue Engineering, Biofabrication;
e) Biomedical Signal and Image Processing;
f) Neural Engineering and Micro and Nano-technologies;
g) Biorobotics, Rehabilitation & Assistive Technologies;
h) Design and Validation of Biomedical Devices;
i) Bioinformatics and Synthetic Biology.

Financial support

The GNB will support the organisation of each workshop with a contribution of EUR 1,500 per event. A maximum of three events per year will be funded.

For accounting purposes, financial support can only be paid to a single service provider, such as a hotel or agency, identified by the local organiser and responsible for issuing the relevant invoice. If no single reference provider is available, the GNB will not be able to proceed with the payment.

How to submit a proposal

Interested applicants are invited to complete the online form by 2 September 2026.

Alternatively, a one-page description of the proposal may be submitted to the GNB Executive Board through the Association’s Secretariat:

Submitted proposals will undergo a preliminary evaluation by the Executive Board based on the following criteria:

  1. relevance and consistency of the proposed topic;
  2. financial sustainability and, where applicable, the hosting capacity of the proposed venue
