Summary

The paper highlights the feasibility of a planar robotic system with an end-effector in the field of paediatric assessment (n=28 subjects with unilateral cerebral palsy), for both end-users and clinicians. The results suggest that the system could provide complementary quantitative information regarding upper limb function. As these results are exploratory in nature, further studies are needed to establish the system’s validity, reliability and responsiveness prior to its clinical integration, in order to obtain objective and quantitative data that can guide individualised rehabilitation strategies for children with unilateral cerebral palsy.
